Warm

The warmth, palpable

The sky; tangibly blue

Such contrasting faults

So at odds

Like two worlds

Claiming each other

We still have green

Luscious, preciously useful

Beautiful Verde

Photosensitizing

The beauty that will save us

The beauty that rises from

Dark, fertile earthen soil

To claim that palpably warm

Blue sky

Sailing

I am at once too much
And not enough
I feel everything around me
And miss the most obvious event
My queen is forever being taken
Much too early in the game
I am my own life boat
Simultaneously sinking
And saving the vessel
To which I desperately cling
Joyous, in silent awe of life
Then desperately wrenched in the agony
That is our world
I do not overexcite
Nor show how low
This sinking ship will dip
Before I reclaim its control
A poise as much a façade
As it is a reality
This game of Yin vs. Yang
Is mere illusion
But a simplified version
Of grey matter vs. red muscle
And the paths wrought to connect them

"What's the pitch tonight?"
George looked toward the voice from the stack of crisp bills in his palm. He knew the voice, and, when he saw the fair skinned face that accompanied it. He knew the person behind the question, yet could not easily drag himself from the stack of imaginary cash in his dark, lined and coarse hands.

"What's the pitch, George?" His friend asked him. George knew that when he looked down, his aching hands would be empty.

He shook his head to try and shake reality away. The questioning look in his friends eye was looming. He could feel the air on his palm and squeezed it.

"Oh yeah, my man, how are you?" George asked in his low and harmonious voice.

His day would go on much like that, a back and forth of reality pushing in on where he wanted to be... his mind.

He and mastered the ability to have whatever he wanted. It was a wonderful arrangement between his body and mind.

Close Enough

I've never seen an angel
with a sweeter face than yours
When you turn your face to mine
it is the slowest of moments
you are close enough to...

I reckon this is a match
I set my smile toward you
not from my lips
but from my eyes
I aim to hold you
and you are so near

Swimming

I am so excited to start swimming!! I just went to swimoutletdotcom and got a swim suit, goggles & a swim cap for $35 total! that includes shipping. I feel pretty excited about losing weight, too. It's not even that I hate my body, I totally don't and I even feel sexy most of the time, but damn when I think about how I could look if I lost weight, the clothes I could buy! I get happy.

so I hung out with C yesterday. we hung out for a few pleasant hours yesterday, walked around the park with Jedi and then went to my apartment and listened to music, talked poetry & books. it was fun but I have no idea if he is interested, or if I'm interested. I think I'm mostly interested just seeing what can happen.

Tlacolula de Matamoros

The people of the town of Tlacolula de Matamoros are kind and lively, The town is comprised of approximately 5,000 Spanish & Zapotecan mestizos.

They have a large attendance to their Sunday Farmer's Market or, simply, el mercado. There the villagers are joined not only by folks from the various towns in a 50 mile radius, but by their own neighbors in the hills, who are mostly Zapotecan or Zapotecan origin.

Tlacolula's root word is Tlaco, which is a Sun god. There are deeply religious (Christian) folks who where necklaces with the image of a sun.

It's a lot like the book, Bless Me, Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya where the people are Christian but the Mary they pray to is much like the Goddess from their ancient relgions.

It's a way in which, in my opinion, Zapotecan people rebelled against their Spanish "conquers" by maintaining their old religion through the lens of their new one: Christianity.
